AlphaRay Shader Tutorial Part.2
The Shape Tab.
When you change the setting in the "Shape Tab", the shape of the 3D images will change.

You can set up the following in the "Shape Tab"
A: Object's hight.
B: Bevel ratio
C: Melt ratio
D: Exclude the hight from the shape.
E: Reverse the hight.
F: Control the shape of the Bevel. When you set the Bevel ratio "0" the setting is invalid.
G: Control the curve of the Bevel.
For example, when you set the Melt ratio to "0".
You will get the sharp angle like image shown below.

Let's reset the Melt's value and change Bevel ratio.
You can check the current shape in the shape window which shown below with red line.

Please find the setting which you like!!

AlphaRay Shader Tutorial - No.02 How to Use.February 12, 2010 10:00 AM

AlphaRay Shader Tutorial Part.2
How to use the AlphaRat Shader.

At First, please select area where AlphaRay Shader process. This is the common way of using AlphaRay Direct.
You can select area by text mask tool, mask tool, auto selection tool, shape tool, and path tool.
+ If the application has antialias option for select area, please make it on. Otherwise, the processed image will have emphasized Jaggy.
+ You can use the path on the AlphaRay Shader. However, you need to convert path to select area before you use the AlhaRay Shader.
Select mirror from the preset style.

The styles are in the pull down which is marked red on the image above. When you select the Mirror style, the parameter will change.

The palette shown above is calls "Environment palette." When you select images in the environment palette, the selected images reflects on the object's surface.
Please click OK when you made the images you like.

The image shown below is made by AlphaRay Shader using preset style.

For example, if you use the mirror style which is preset style for the registered image, the result will be image shown below.

The mirror style applied to oval shape paths.

[ Practical Use ] Using BABY UNIVERSE, Inc. Logo.

1 : Make Logo's path

2 : Apply the Mirror preset style to the BABY UNIVERSE, Inc's Logo.

3 : Adjust the Illumination's brightness, etc.
AlphaRay Shader can express many things depends on the setting.

Making Image with Original Objects.

In this Tutorial, we made the ant's Illustration with Adobe Illustrator for the object image.
The object image is RGB color, and format has to be jpg, PNG, TIFF or GIF.
+ When you set the object's size to "100", the object size will be actual size of the image. So, please adjust the size of the image to output.

You can register the objects by clicking the folder icon which we marked with red.
Place image along the text.

Blend the objects to the BackGround.

Place objects along the mask image.

AlphaRay Direct Tutorial No.05. Using Mask ImageFebruary 4, 2010 12:00 PM

Place object images along the mask image.
Use the "a" mark shown blow as a mask image.

AlphaRay Direct Dialogue.

( Object image's size, vertical position, horizontal position, and rotation has been changed in Property Tab. )

Please make the check when you use current layer as a mask image.
Use "a" mark as a object image and placed "a" mark mask image.

Please save the object image as ".png" image and register to AlphaRay Direct. To register the images, please click the icon which marked with red line in the image shown below.

The object image's size, vertical position, horizontal position, hue and chroma is changed by Property tab.

Place objects on Back Ground Images.
Placing objects on the back ground naturally.
Goal

Process
At first, Please choose the back ground image and object image. Then, please input the text that you like.

Next, Set up the text's perspective to fit with the background image, using map tool. You can use the map tool by clicking the an arrow shape icon which is on left and bottom in the AlphaRay Direct window.

Advanced Technique.
Place image more naturally.

Please make a check for Use current layer as a mask in the setting manu.
When you set up the "Use current layer as a mask", you can place the object on the layer which you select.
After you set up the setting which written above, please make a new layer, and place the text. When you place the object on independent layer, you can use the other photoshop filter or setting for the layer. The image shown below used brightness and contrast setting by photoshop and expressed the wet stones.

How to use the Property Palette.
The Property Tab

You can change the object randomly.
You can set up the size, horizontal position, vertical position, rotation, hue, chroma, brightness and transparency in the property palette.
When you set the more big value, the change will be more dynamic.

Sample-1, The yellow ball has been chosen to the object image.

Sample-2. The Hue property value has been changed in Property Tab.

Sample-3, The Hue, size and Random seed's value has been changed in Property Tab.
